Learning how to design and build a solar powered home.
The concept of green buiding or sustainable construction is gaining traction around the world. Global climate change and the negative impact to air quality from burning fossil fuels are now accepted as fact. ( unless you do not believe in scientific facts. If this is what you believe, this is not the site for you.)
We have the technology to be able to build homes that take zero energy from the electric grid, zero natural gas or propane. In fact we can easily build them to be net positive which means that if your utility allows it, you can sell the extra power back to the grid for your neighbor to use.
The market for sustainable housing is just in the beginning of what I believe will be a global explosion for the industry. People with the skills and experience to be able to design and build a net zero, solar powered home will be in great demand. So how does one learn to do this let alone become an expert?
Well it begins with learning the basics. Here is a free introductory video that takes you through a real design and build of a sustainable home. It is very good as an introductory course and the company that produces it offers more detailed online video courses and dvd’s that are very inexpensive. Many are less than one dollar!
