Is a Career as a Home Solar Power Installation Professional Right for You?
Many people that I talk to are interested in becoming a solar power installer and for good reason. There are lots of jobs around the world for trained solar PV and solar hot-water installation people and the pay is typically very good. What does it really mean to have a career installing home solar panels?
To help people gain a deeper understanding of what a typical day in the life of a solar power installer is like, I have created a series of articles with videos showing real world work and results of solar installation experts from around the world.
In this video, which is a bit of a commercial for Vivint Solar who is a very large solar power installation company in the United States, a small team of highly trained solar installation experts install a complete home solar PV system on a roof in 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Of course, to do a job like this in such a small period of time requires a lot of planning and organization. Ensuring that the design is right and to the appropriate installation regulations, obtaining the proper local permits, ensuring safe work habits, ordering and preparing material, connecting into the home electrical system and tying to the local grid are all requirements that must be completed well in advance.
This video makes it look very easy but that is what experts do, they make tasks look easy right?
And just to clarify, we do not have any kind of affiliation or marketing agreement with ViVint Solar. I just thought that this time lapse video is a good introduction for anyone considering a career installing solar pv systems.
